IT'S ALL GO FOR GREENGATE EMBANKMENT

The redevelopment of the former Exchange Station has got the go-ahead thanks to an £8.5m grant from the government.

English Partnerships have offered their support of the project which will comprise of 400,000 sq feet mixed use development, new squares, public spaces and a bridge across the River Irwell.

Home to the already hugely popular Abito development, Greengate is perfectly located with just a couple of minutes walk to Harvey Nichols and the main shopping district.

When completed the new Greengate Embankment Scheme, which sits between Chapel Street, Gravel Lane and Sacred Trinity Church will provide a seamless important link between Manchester and Salford.

Felicity Goodey, chairman of the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company who are also backing the project said at the launch of Greengate Embankment: 'Greengate Embankment is the gateway to a new future. It is the most important development yet for the transformation of central Salford.'
